The U.S. drug industry faces an unprecedented attack in Congress and the courts from people who fail to recognize the economics of the industry or its contributions to improved health, says Kevin Hassett, of the American Enterprise Institute. Rather than "piling on with populist rhetoric and economically illiterate" bills, Congress should find ways to protect the industry from excessive litigation, he said.
