Betting the Pharm

Pfizer's failure to launch torcetrapib will have repercussions throughout the industry on many different levels. As a seminal event, it will rival the withdrawal of Vioxx from the market.

In today's post to Pharma Marketing Blog, I discuss the littany of repercussions this has already had on Pfizer and the drug industry as well as future repercussions.

It includes one surprisingly frank assessment by a business expert about the "creaky" nature of the pharmaceutical industry. It can be improved, says this author's report, if the industry focuses on strengthening its non-blockbuster pipeline and launches an immediate "diplomatic offensive" to win public opinion. Or something to that effect.
