Doing a Good Job but Still No Respect!

Posted: May 24, 2006
The late, great comedian Rodney Dangerfield made the phrase "I get no respect" his trademark. Some pharmaceutical executives these days have embraced the Rodney Dangerfield shtick. Henry McKinnell, Pfizer's CEO, for example, once commented that "we cure heart attacks and strokes and cancer, but we can't get any respect."

That's a good joke. A few others might inlcude: ... (you fill in the blank)

Anyway, the issue is what different Harris polls show about pharma -- in one poll respondents think the industry is doing a good job, in another respondents don't have much trust that pharma will "do the right thing" for their health care.

Should we ignore poll #2 and focus only on poll #1?
