More Reminder Ad Sightings

Posted: May 23, 2006
Reports of the demise of pharmaceutical "reminder ads" (eg, "Reminder Ads - Pharma's Dodo?") have been greatly exaggerated.

The latest is a sighting of a Levitra ad outside the entrance to Penn Station in NYC. It's equivalent to an Internet banner ad -- only worse! (Camera-phone photo included.)

Internet and outdoor advertising venues, it seems, are the last remaining havens for reminder and other brand-awareness advertising in the pharmaceutical market.

For more on this subject, see today's post to Pharma Marketing Blog.

P.S. Anyone making other sightings of outdoor reminder ads, please feel free to send me a photo.

P.P.S. Remember the letters I wrote to PhRMA and Sepracor about the Lunesta Reminder ads on TV (see "Wake Up PhRMA! or Tilting at Windmills")? Well, despite having received the letter on May 15, PhRMA has not yet bothered to respond as it promised to do on its Office of "Accountability" Web pages. When critics say the PhRMA DTC Guidelines have no teeth, they have understated it -- they have no GUMS! Nevertheless, I am not giving up on this windmill! Stay tuned.
